Undocking and warping quickly to the site, I discovered a drone hive. Slightly disappointed at how subpar the loot and salvage was going to be, along with no bounties, I proceeded to do my duty as a Pod Pilot and destroy the hive, and that’s when things started to get interesting. Looking around a bit I thought it was strange they’d picked such a barren, resource deficient place to build a hive, thats when I noticed a few transports. They must have brought the hive’s materials here from somewhere else…as if to agree with me, my communications sensors begin picking up readings from the remaining drones, beep and clicks. Tracing the signal, I am able to pick out where they’re relaying the signal to.

Thinking this could get interesting, and may well be more dangerous to the local systems than I just though, I destroy the remaining drones and the central supports of the hive, leaving it to collapse in on itself. Perhaps I could come back later to salvage the place, but for now I relayed our new destination to Aura.

Sorry it has been so long since I wrote up, space has been kind of quiet for a  since I left the uni. The war with Seppuku Warriors and the rest is finally over and although the uni took heavy loses in the form a POS and over a billion ISK’s worth of damages. However after a short war with ‘The Adventures of the Gummi Bears [AOGB]‘ they are currently enjoying a time of peace.

My New Anathema - Scorch

In other news I’ve finally finished a couple of weeks of arduous training to fly a Covert Ops ship. My new Anathema, christened ‘Scorch’ will soon be flying around unseen in a system near you, so watch out for me even though you’ll never see me there. I have to say, it’s a great ship, absolutely perfect for exploration, giving a +10% bonus to Probe Strength which really helps and I can even get some sites with the probes scanning at 1au.

As for the corp situation (Atsuma is currently lacking one), I’m really considering forming my own at the moment, although I have to consider it quite carefully. For a start if I wanted the corp to have a POS, I had better wait until I have high enough standings and enough Capital for the tower by myself, before I even found the corp. Secondly I would much prefer to have a decent sized member base before I form the corp, preferably 10+ active members who I can trust, probably former uni friends and allies. Finally I’d have to start thinking about any corp objectives I’d want to aim for. At the moment I really want to get into some good small gang PvP, so getting a good group of people interested in that and bringing them all together would work very nicely I think. If anyone is interested in joining me or would like some info, please feel free to leave me a comment or pop ‘Atsuma Yishami’ an Evemail.

I also wouldn’t be closed to simply joining a corp, provided it had a reasonable sized group of players all interested in PvP and all pretty active around the time I’m online, we’ll see. There are so many small corps out there that it’d be difficult to choose one!

Sorry for such a delay between posts, but I reckon the Covops is really gonna give me a lot of content to write about in the future.

Skill-wise Atsuma is nearly ready to step into Covert Ops ships, just training for the Covert Ops cloak now and then will sharpen up a few of my probing skills afterward. After that I think I’m going to train up to use a Stealth Bomber, as I think they’ve recently become much more useful, and could be quite fun in small gangs. They also aren’t very far away from my current skill plan and will only require me to train up torpedoes and probably a few other support skills to fit it right.

After that I think I might go for Interceptors, but will most likely start working on my Cruiser class skills. I need to get more able in a Battlecruiser soon as I think I’ll need one (probably a Prophecy) for running Level 3 missions which I should have enough standing for within the next few days, so I’ll probably want to look at fitting T2 Medium Lasers for that, which will require a long Level V skill unfortunatly…13days says Evemon, which is a rather long wait in my book.

I’d like to look into HACs quite soon and will probably go for my Battleships skills in the middle of summer. Theres two long periods of time when I’m away, during which I plan on training Large Energy Weapons V and Amarr Battleship V so we’ll see how that turns out sometime.

So that’s the general plan for now, I plan on crosstraining Gallente at some point so I don’t know where that slides in here but I imagine I’ll get sidetracked from this at some stage or another…

I finally found a way around the research problem that I’ve been having recently, with the help of The New Eden Research Alliance. Basically, Aoshi has created his own corp and now relocated to Amarr space where the Alliance has a POS set up for research. The costs to rent a slot are slightly higher than normal, but there is no wait to use them so they’re definatly much better than the public slots.

Due to this problem being solved for me, research and manufacturing are moving on even more rapidly now and I am able to generate 2-3mil a day now from manufacturing with minimal playtime, allowing me to play on Atsuma more. The only thing that’s slightly time consuming about it is the hauling around, but of course some of it had to be done. Research into which blueprints I should invest in is also quite bothersome but I figure that diversifying is key if I want  to generate more isk everyday, as only a certain number of each item will be traded in a region everyday, limiting the profit potential of that item. I’ve found that Eve-MEEP is a very handy tool for working out how profitable blueprints are but there are actually quite a lot of prints missing from their multicomponent database.

Recently I’ve also been looking at how I can get into T2 production and from what I’ve found out so far it’s going to be quite difficult. The main difficulty is the fact that I’m going to need BPCs to do invention and my current research situation (with The New Eden Research Alliance) doesn’t allow me to produce BPCs. For this reason I’m probably going to have to set up my own POS at some point which is frankly, a lot of hassle. Skill wise Aoshi is still quite a way from being ready but I think he should be ready for it reasonably soon.

I think the isk required to start T2 production is going to be quite steep, but is certainly attainable and I hope to try this as soon as possible, though will try to start with cheaper Blueprints in case of failed invention attempts. Atsuma has been going very well recently, trying to do some lowsec PvP in a Punisher while he’s finishing his training for Covert Ops and Stealth Bombers.

Some of you may have noticed my absence from the uni recently. With the number of wars the uni had been in recently I decided to sit this latest batch of wars out and left the corp. During my stay at the uni times of peace have been short and far between and I find that with the constant wars, I am unable to progress as I would like to.

The uni has everything I could want it to be as a new player, providing me with skill books, free frigates, all important knowledge about anything you can imagine and some all important camaraderie. It may be true that Eve University isn’t going to be suitable for the hardcore gamer, but for the regular player just looking to have some fun (don’t know if Eve has that many non-hardcore gamers) it’s a perfect starting point. I’ll definatly be recommending it any new players I meet during my travels.

Whether I’ll be returning to the uni or not in the future, I’m unsure. Possibly when I have a lot more experience and am in need of a break at some point in the future I’ll return and attempt to instruct, but returning in the very near future is looking very unlikely at the moment.

I haven’t given a post about Aoshi’s status lately, so I thought I would now. Since the last post he has got hold a Mammoth with 27,500m^3 of capacity (wasn’t exactly cheap, but it worth it) and has managed to get a lot of his industry skills up to reasonable levels. Industry V, Mass Production IV, Trade V, Broker Relations IV and so on, with the all important Production Efficiency being trained up to V as I write, will be another two and a half weeks still.

As for the manufacturing itself, it’s well underway and I’m making a steady 1.5mil profit a day through it, which isn’t a lot but is better than nothing. Hopefully I’ll be able to build this up gradually, with an initial aim of maybe 10-20mil a day. If all goes well this could be higher . Unfortunatly though, I’ve recently hit a bit of a brick wall on the research side of things, with the uni being at war and no longer being able to have easy access to research slots. I’m trying to get Atsuma’s standing up high enough with Amarr now that he can put a POS up, but ideally I’ll try and find Aoshi a friendly corp with a POS.

I’ve also started looking at T2 production, and although I think it’s definatly much too early to try my hand at this, it definatly seems a viable option for the future.

This month’s topic comes to us from CrazyKinux Himself, and he asks us Bloggers: What three things haven’t you done in EVE and why? Would you be willing to try one day? Why so? Why not?

My first time participating in the Eve Blog Banter, but it looks like fun so here we go. Given that I’m a pretty new player to Eve theres a pretty long list of things I haven’t done yet in Eve and I have the challenge of picking a mere 3 of them for this.

No. 1: Flying a Battleship

Yea, I’ve never flown a Battleship in Eve yet. I’m not quite sure why not, as I can afford one easily enough,  but I think I just want to have my skills up to scratch before I fly something really expensive. In my mind a three and a half month old player shouldn’t really be flying one anyways. I have to say that this one is pretty high up on the priority list.

No. 2: Going to Wormhole Space

Another one that I’ve really wanted to do since the release of Apocrypha but simply have never had the chance, what with all the uni wars and never finding one for myself yet. I imagine if I find one anytime soon I’ll try and get a small fleet to go and explore it in, so all I’ve really been missing is the right opportunity.

No. 3: Participating in a Good Fleet Battle

This one I think is something I look forward to and would probably enjoy quite a lot even if we did lose. The main problem with the ‘fun’ part of the uni fleets was the fact they always had so many people and just completely outnumbered the enemies, ruining a lot of the fun that could’ve been had. I’m trying to get more active in PvP at the moment, so maybe this one will come up sometime in the future.

I was shocked. Coming into HQ that evening only to turn on my Neocom and discover that the uni’s security had once again disappeared. It had only been about a week since the last set of wars ended, and I had been enjoying my new found free time. No waiting in stations anxiously for the slim chance that a fleet might form to go chase the enemy, no lock-downs, no gate or station camping. Peace had been great, and yet here it was, war again.

Now don’t get me wrong, I quite enjoy fighting other capsuleers, it manages to present a bit more of a challenge than the typical Guristas ships I’ve been fighting lately, but when the uni goes to war, it isn’t exactly fighting other capsuleers…generally it involves lot of waiting for a fleet to get together, then actually forming the fleet takes maybe an hour and after that you get to go hunting in huge blob against enemies that never do anything but run and hide. I don’t know, maybe some people enjoy it but it isn’t exactly my glass of Quafe.

The corp itself is almost in shock as well with this latest batch. Seppuku Warriors, a training corp for advanced combat and headed by Ex-Eve Uni Directors was one of our enemies now. It was a srange feeling, fighting against pilots we had once flown alongside. I’m not going to get deep into politics of it, as honestly thats just a load of crap. They agressed us, betrayed us, even after we helped them for so long. Indeed a lot of the corp didn’t believe it, thinking it were some sort of training excercise, but we knew it was real quickly enough. Even before the war had started we were told ‘Do not bring Haulers to SAK, they will be suicide ganked by SW’, this kinda confirmed the seriousness of the war. Soon after it started, they attacked our POS, another act confirming the seriousness of this war.

I can already tell this corporation is going to be much more aggressive than others which have attacked us before, and I don’t know if I can be bothered with station spinning much longer. I reckon I’ll leave the university at some point during this war, finally spreading my wings. I don’t where I’ll go yet but we’ll see

Indeed it had been a very difficult journey thus far, requiring patience, determination and perseverance above other things, but finally they had made it this far, to their Graduation day. Just through the doors on the far side of the room was a crowd of people. Students, proud parents and even news reporters would all be there, and beyond that was the board of directors and the instructors. The people who the uni couldn’t function without and who without a second thought willingly gave so much of their free time to help us learn the harsh realities of being a pod pilot.

We waited patiently, just soaking in the atmosphere that we could hear through the doors, there must have been thousands on the other side. Gradually it seemed to die down as people were asked to take their seats and the ceremony began.

Listening through the door we heard the voice of our esteemed CEO and founder, Morning Maniac, speaking out to the crowd;

”I’d like to welcome you all to this wonderful occasion, when we are able to witness the graduation of five young pilots. I can tell you truthfully that these five have endured far more during their stay with the uni than some pilots will endure during their careers. They are to be commended for how they have helped the University thrive during it’s dark days at war, by making the new students feel welcome and participating as best they could in our fleets to drive our enemies away, they have shown dedication and commitment to the uni and helped us to further our goals during their stay here.

Everyone, please now show your congratulations to these five, exemplary, students, as they come forward and recieve their medals. Wish them the best of luck during their future in New Eden, and may we all enjoy the rest of the day as best we can, thank you.”

At that, the doors opened and we all walked out in single file. The crowd went silent for a moment as everyone craned to try and get a look at us, before exploding with applause and cheering. Reporters and cameramen from The Scope were there, videoing the whole thing and it may have been broadcast later but I don’t remember. We followed the red carpet up to the front of the hall, where Morning Maniac stood, alongside the Directors, Fleet Admirals and Instructors. We headed towards one end of the line, and began to shake hands with each of the people stood before us, receiving congratulations and enjoying the banter with some of the friendlier instructors.

When we finally reached the end of the line, we each knelt in turn while Morning Maniac presented us with our Medal, which was inscribed ‘Per Eruditio, Vis’, ‘Through Knowledge, Power’. After spending such a long time in the uni and gaining what experience I had, I knew there was no truer statement.We then got our pictures taken by Scope before the ceremony came to a close. We headed out into the dispersing crowd individually, to try and find our families and some fellow students, receiving pats on the back and shaking peoples hands the whole time. After we had found our families and learnt they were proud of us and so on, we (with a few fellow students), headed for the exit so that we could spend our graduation night as you should, and of course I don’t remember anything more past that, save that I had a massive headache in the morning and woke up in Nathanul’s apartment…

Now that I’ve finally graduated, I’ll stay on at the uni a while to help where I can, but when the time comes, with the right offer, I’ll be heading out among the stars to find some more adventure.
